Degree Time Limits
Time Limit for M.S. degrees
The M.S. degree may be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis. However, students must complete all the requirements for the M.S. degree within听six (6) years from the initial date of registration as a graduate student in the Department.
Time Limit for Ph.D. degrees
Doctoral candidacy automatically terminates听five (5)听years after admission to candidacy. All requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed with听seven (7)听years of admission to the Ph.D. program (registration for first doctoral level class). To continue beyond the time limit, a written request for extension to the research advisor and the Dean of the College of Engineering must be submitted and approved.
