Technology Transfer

Submit an Invention

The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) requires faculty, student, and staff inventors to submit a disclosure form to begin the formal technology transfer process.ÌýBe careful not to disclose yourÌýnew invention to anyone outside The University of Toledo before a confidentialÌýdisclosure agreement is in place or a patent application is filed.Ìý

Please contact the TTO before disclosing your invention via poster presentation, publication, or any other method of communication (including social media) so we can advise you of the appropriate protection for your technology.

Visit ourÌýPublish and PerishÌýpage for more details.

Select the appropriate Invention Disclosure (IDF) or Research Tool Disclosure (RTDF) in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Inventor Portal. Initial requests to access the inventor portal must be made using your UTAD sign on credentials and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ email (UTAD@rockets.utoledo.edu).Ìý

  • Patentable technology? Inventors will choose the Invention Disclosure to fully describe an idea so the options for commercialization can be evaluated and pursued.
  • Research resources such as cell lines, animal models, antibodies, and reagents? Inventors should choose the Research Tool Disclosure.

Licensing Associates will only review completed disclosures (i.e., no longer in the 'Draft' Review Stage).ÌýOnce your disclosure is complete, be sure to select the 'Submit for Review' button in your disclosure to update the status from 'Draft' to 'Submitted.'
