Bioengineering

Transfer Students

All transfer students must meet the following criteria in order to transfer into Bioengineering:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher for all postsecondary coursework
  • Grade of C or better in CHEM 1230 General Chemistry I (or equivalent)
  • Grade of C or better in MATH 1850 Calculus I (or equivalent)

Please refer toÌýTransfer Student AdmissionsÌýfor more details on admission requirements for students that wish to transfer from another college or university.

Most transfer students begin the transfer process by investigating whether or not their credits will transfer from one institution to another. Thanks to a website called Transferology, you can do this on your own. However, if you need help, or have more detailed questions, please send me an email at Eda.YildirimAyan@utoledo.eduÌýand I will help to make your transfer as smooth as possible.

To use Transferology, simply visit ·É·É·É.³Ù°ù²¹²Ô²õ´Ú±ð°ù´Ç±ô´Ç²µ²â.³¦´Ç³¾Ìýand click on Ohio. Then proceed as follows:

  1. Click on "Guest Login" and then "Course Equivalency Guides"
  2. Choose "Ohio" and "The University of Toledo" as the institution you are transferring to
  3. Choose the state and the institution that you are transferring from
  4. Choose the subject area from the drop-down box

For example, if you are looking to see if your math course will transfer, click on the subject area at your school (such as "MATH" or "MTH") and Transferology will list the equivalent courses at the University of Toledo.

If the institution which you attend (or a specific course you are looking for) is not on Transferology, please email me at Edayildirimayan@utoledo.edu and I will assist you in getting your transfer credit evaluated.

We have developed flowcharts with course equivalents for transfer students from the following local institutions:

For students interested in the Bioengineering pre-med concentration, we have developed flowcharts with course equivalents for transfer students from the following institutions:

Note:Ìýwhen transfer credit is awarded, you will only receive the same number of credit hours awarded by the institution where the course was originally taken. If you receive less transfer credit for a course than its equivalent at the University of Toledo, you may be required to complete additional coursework to compensate for the credit hour shortfall.

In addition, many transfer students obtain college credit for an orientation course in the program from which they are transferring. However, the BIOE 1000 Orientation and Introduction to Bioengineering course contains substantial content related to engineering design. Therefore we can only count orientation courses from other engineering science programs as satisfying the requirements for BIOE 1000. Students that transfer from Engineering Technology or non-engineering programs must take BIOE 1000. In lieu of BIOE 1000, students that transfer from Engineering Technology or non-engineering programs may opt to take 1000-level or higher courses in BIOE, CHEE, CIVE, EECS or MIME that are not required to satisfy other Bioengineering degree requirements.

Please seeÌýProgram RequirementsÌýfor a list of required courses in our program.
